Elena is an Asturian musician, choral and solo singer, choral conductor and leader, currently based in England.
During the academic year 2020/2021 she pursued the MA in Choral Conducting at the University of Birmingham (United Kingdom) studying with Simon Halsey CBE and Julian Wilkins. Obtaining her BEcon from the University of Oviedo in 2017, she developed her choral conducting education with the Association of British Choral Directors (ABCD), studying with Dr Amy Bebbington, among other choral tutors.
As a conductor, Elena works as Choral Leader for In Harmony Opera North (IHON), England. Elena musically lead several choirs of the VOBLANA Choral Project and took part in choral competitions in Spain, Belgium and Portugal; Elena also acted as a choral workshop leader for the ‘Voblana Schools Choirs’ network, project that took her to deliver choral workshops in the Dominican Republic in 2017. She has also worked with the adult and children choirs and youth A Capella consorts of the Sonidopolis Rock and Pop Music School, Asturias; and has collaborated with the choirs of the Siero Itinerant Music School (EMMIS), Asturias.
As a singer, she was a member from 2009 to 2020 of Voces Blancas del Nalón (VOBLANA) Choral Project, Asturias. Also, Elena has collaborated with artists, groups and projects of various and contrasting styles: Quilombo Bacano (indie), Femme Fetén (A Capella and Jazz vocal female consort), Asturian traditional singing groups and A lifeStoy (Short film soundtrack), among others.
